About The Event

In light of the recent coronavirus (Covid – 19) outbreak in Asia and Europe, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Scotland Houses Ball on Friday 15 May which was due to take place at the Doubletree by Hilton, Glasgow Central.

We are saddened to be bringing you this news and please know this decision hasn’t been made lightly. We have taken guidance from our own Boards of Trustees (Ronald McDonald House Charities UK and Ronald McDonald House Glasgow respectively), as well as the McDonald’s Coronavirus Global Working Group.  They have advised that it is inappropriate for large numbers of businesses to attend an event in a public place, with an uncontrolled environment.  This is now being actioned through the McDonald’s business both globally and across the UK.

We are naturally very disappointed to have to come to this decision, and will be making direct contact with all businesses and stakeholders and who were supporting the event.

Please note these are exceptional circumstances. Thank for your understanding and ongoing support, we look forward to bringing back the Scotland Houses Ball next year.

About the Charities

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK and Ronald McDonald House Glasgow provide cost free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families whose critically ill child is being treated at hospital.

When a child is ill, they want to have their family by their side and no more so than when they are in hospital. During this time, families often have to travel far from home to get the treatment that their child needs, leaving them with long journeys each day and either paying for costly hotel rooms or sleeping on a chair at their bedside.

Ronald McDonald Houses provide families with a comfortable place to stay that's close to their child, giving them more time and energy to focus on being together.

Each year since first opening in 1996, circa 550 families are being supported in Scotland by Ronald McDonald House Glasgow through our 31 bedroomed house close by the wards.

Soon, Ronald McDonald House Charities UK hopes to open a new Ronald McDonald House in Edinburgh to support families with children being treated at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People. As soon as the hospital opens, the new 25 bedroom House will enable us to support an additional 500 families each year from all over Scotland and the UK right inside the hospital.  We are incredibly proud to be bringing our care to Edinburgh.

Both charities rely solely on the support and generosity of fundraisers, donors and volunteers to keep the doors open and keep families together when it matters most.

All net profits from the Ronald McDonald Houses Scotland Ball will be split equally between both charities. We hope you will join us on 15 May to help make a difference for our families during their time of need.
